Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-28

In short

  • The Free plan is free forever. The Pro plan is optional, billed monthly through Stripe, and you can cancel at any time.
  • Changed your mind? You get a full refund if you ask within 14 days of your first Pro payment.
  • Your data stays yours. We only use it to run the Service for you.
  • Use Universal Inbox lawfully and respect the rules of the tools you connect.
  • French law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep all the protections of the law of the country where you live.

This summary is here to help you read the terms. The full text below is what applies.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

In short: this is the agreement between you and the person who runs Universal Inbox.

Universal Inbox is operated by David Rousselie, entrepreneur individuel (sole trader) registered in France ("we", "us", "our"). Full details are in our Legal Notice.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of the hosted service at app.universal-inbox.com, its API, its MCP server for AI assistants, the browser extension and the Raycast extension (together, the "Service").

Universal Inbox's source code is open source and published under the Apache License 2.0. That license, not these Terms, governs your use of the code. These Terms do not apply to instances hosted by someone else.

By creating an account, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Your account

In short: give accurate details, keep your access safe, and you're responsible for what happens in your account.

  • You must be at least 15 years old to use the Service. To subscribe to a paid plan, you must be an adult able to enter into a contract, or act on behalf of a business.
  • You agree to give accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • An account is for one person. Keep your password, passkeys and API keys secure, and tell us quickly at support@universal-inbox.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • You are responsible for what is done through your account, including by the API keys you create and the AI assistants you authorize.

If you use the Service for your work, you confirm that you are allowed to connect your work tools to it.

3. The Service

In short: we do our best to keep it running, but we depend on other services and can't promise perfection.

Universal Inbox brings notifications from the tools you connect into one inbox, and lets you act on them and turn them into tasks.

The Service relies on the APIs of the tools you connect (GitHub, Google, Slack, Linear, Todoist, TickTick and others). These providers can change, limit or stop their APIs at any time, which can affect or break an integration. We will try to adapt, but we cannot guarantee that every integration will always be available.

We work hard to keep the Service available and secure, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. You can check its current status at status.universal-inbox.com. Features marked as "beta" or "preview" are still being tested and can change or be removed.

We improve the Service over time. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove a feature that is a significant part of a paid plan, we will tell you in advance, and you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of your current period.

4. Plans and prices

In short: a Free plan forever, and an optional Pro plan.

  • Free plan: free, with no time limit. It currently includes up to 2 connected tools and one sync per day.
  • Pro plan: a paid monthly subscription. It currently includes unlimited connected tools, sync every few minutes and priority email support.

The exact features and price of each plan are shown on our website and in the app before you subscribe. Prices are in euros for customers in the euro area, and in US dollars everywhere else. The payment page shows the currency and the final amount before you pay. Prices include any applicable VAT or sales tax.

Price changes. We may change our prices. We will tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your subscription. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect.

5. Payment, renewal and cancellation

In short: billed monthly, cancel whenever you want, keep access until the end of the month you paid for.

  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
  • The Pro plan is paid in advance and renews automatically every month until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time from the billing page in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then. Apart from the 14-day refund in section 6, we do not refund partial months.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it. If it keeps failing, your subscription may end and your account will move to the Free plan.
  • If your account moves to the Free plan while you use more tools than the Free plan allows, you have 30 days to choose which tools to keep. After that, the most recently added connections are paused. Nothing is deleted: you can resume them by upgrading again.

Invoices are available in the billing portal.

6. 14-day refund and right of withdrawal

In short: full refund, no questions asked, within 14 days of your first payment.

If you are not satisfied, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first Pro payment. This applies to everyone, consumers and businesses alike.

If you are a consumer, this also covers your legal right of withdrawal (Code de la consommation, art. L221-18): you can withdraw from the contract within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason.

To ask for a refund or withdraw, email support@universal-inbox.com from your account's email address, or send us a statement like this:

"I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the Universal Inbox Pro plan, subscribed on [date]. Name: [your name]. Account email: [your email]. Date: [today's date]."

We will refund the full amount within 14 days of receiving your request, using the same payment method you used. Your account will move to the Free plan.

7. Your content

In short: your content is yours. We only use it to provide the Service to you.

The notifications, emails, messages, tasks and other content that the Service syncs from your connected tools, and anything you create in the Service ("Your Content"), remain yours.

You give us a limited right to store, copy, process and display Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you, for as long as you use it. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

You can delete your account and Your Content at any time from your Profile page. You can ask us for an export by emailing privacy@universal-inbox.com.

8. Acceptable use

In short: don't break the law, don't abuse the Service, and respect the tools you connect.

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for anything illegal, or to harm, harass or spy on others;
  • access data or tools you are not authorized to access;
  • try to break, overload or bypass the security of the Service, or probe it for vulnerabilities without our permission (please report vulnerabilities to support@universal-inbox.com);
  • bypass plan limits, share one account between several people, or resell access to the Service;
  • use the Service in a way that breaks the terms of the tools you connect, or the rules of your employer.

You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of each tool you connect.

9. Third-party tools

In short: the tools you connect are run by other companies, under their own terms.

The Service connects to tools run by other companies. Your use of those tools is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability or changes to their services.

10. Feedback

In short: thank you for your ideas, we may use them.

If you send us ideas or suggestions, you allow us to use them freely to improve Universal Inbox, without any obligation to you. You keep any rights you have in them.

11. Suspension and termination

In short: you can leave at any time. We only suspend accounts for good reasons.

By you. You can stop using the Service at any time. To close your account and delete your data, use "Delete my account" on your Profile page, or email privacy@universal-inbox.com. Deleting your account cancels any Pro subscription immediately. The rest of the current period is not refunded, unless you are still within the 14-day refund window (section 6). To keep Pro until the end of the period, cancel the subscription first and delete your account later.

By us. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. Unless there is an urgent reason (security, fraud, legal obligation or risk for other users), we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund any unused part of your prepaid subscription.

If we shut down the Service, we will tell you at least 60 days in advance, let you export your data, and refund any unused part of your prepaid subscription.

In short: if you are a consumer, the law guarantees that the Service works as described.

If you are a consumer, you benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity for digital services (Code de la consommation, art. L224-25-1 and following), for the whole time the Service is provided to you. If the Service does not conform to these Terms or to what we described, you can ask us to fix it. If we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, or the problem is serious, you can get a price reduction or end your subscription with a refund. To use this guarantee, contact support@universal-inbox.com.

13. Liability

In short: we're responsible for our mistakes within the limits the law allows, and consumers keep all their legal rights.

For everyone. The limits below do not apply where the law forbids them, for example in case of fraud or gross negligence. We are not responsible for problems caused by the tools you connect, by your internet connection or devices, or by events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms removes or limits the rights you have under consumer protection law.

If you use the Service as a business, and to the extent permitted by law:

  • we are not liable for indirect losses, such as loss of profit, business, revenue or data;
  • our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid us during the 12 months before the event that caused the claim, and in any case to no more than 100 euros;
  • you agree to compensate us for claims from third parties caused by your breach of these Terms or by content you process through the Service in breach of the law.

14. Changes to these Terms

In short: we'll warn you before important changes.

We may update these Terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. For significant changes, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel your subscription before that date and get a refund for the unused part of your current period. If you keep using the Service after the changes take effect, the new Terms apply.

15. Applicable law and disputes

In short: talk to us first. French law applies, but consumers keep their local protections.

These Terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your country of residence.

If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@universal-inbox.com. We will do our best to find a solution with you.

Consumer mediation. In accordance with the provisions of the French Consumer Code (Code de la consommation) on the "consumer dispute mediation process", if you have contacted us first and our answer does not satisfy you, or you get no answer, you can use a consumer mediation procedure, free of charge, with:

Phone: +33 1 89 47 00 14
Website: https://www.cm2c.net/declarer-un-litige.php
Email: litiges@cm2c.net

You must refer the dispute to the mediator within one year of your written complaint to us. The mediator's proposal is not binding: you and we remain free to accept it, and you can still go to court.

Courts. If you are a consumer, you can bring a claim before the competent court of your place of residence or any other court the law allows. If you use the Service as a business, the courts of Créteil (France) have exclusive jurisdiction.

16. General

  • If a part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest remains in force.
  • If we don't enforce a right at some point, we don't give it up.
  • You may not transfer your account or these Terms to someone else without our agreement. We may transfer them to a new operator of the Service, in which case we will tell you and your rights will not be reduced.
  • These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
